Paramotor Alaska with Chris Reynolds
hris Reynolds is Living Alaska above it all, and tells me in a recent email “You have not lived until you have flown.” I met Chris while doing research on buying my own Paramotor equipment, and his video gave me the final push I needed to move forward. The paragliding and Paramotor Alaska community is pretty significant in size, which also includes instructors and a strong network of experienced pilots – With that I’m set!
Since I was a kids, I’ve had a burning passion to pilot my own aircraft over Alaska! I’d later learn in life that my grandfather was part of pioneering aviation navigation systems in rural Alaska – So this just seems right. Expensive you think? Actually it isn’t. What I love more about the sport is that it connects me more with the elements and views than sitting inside an aircraft.
Chris and his buddies inspire the art and freedom of flight through his films, this featured video won third place in the 2013 Oxygen/Octane Big O Show. Watching these guys fly reminds me of John Denver lyrics from the song The Eagle and the Hawk, which say “Come dance with the west winds and touch mountain tops. Sail over the canyons and up to the stars.” Yes, indeed! This will be me soon enough and I hope to share the sky with the likes of Chris Reynolds one day… Or even you perhaps?
